I believe that much of life's pain and difficulties are rooted in broken relationships.  Disconnection causes pain and suffering so internal and external reconnection is key to restoring health.  My passion as a therapist is to help others reconnect within themselves, build intimacy with other people, and grow spiritually.  More fulfilling and joyful lives are gained by healing emotional wounds, addressing painful internal chatter, developing relational skills, and fostering mutual empathy and empowerment in relationships.

I take a relational collaborative approach to therapy.  Together we will formulate a unique strategy to address the presenting issues and meet relational goals.  I blend various theories (e.g., attachment, cognitive behavioral, family systems, object relations, somatic experiencing) and research-based techniques in helping clients.  Also the trust and safety that develops in our relationship will be instrumental in restructuring your internal world.

Regarding education, I completed an MA in counseling at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga in 2009.  I also have a BA in physiology/anatomy (1983) and an MPH in epidemiology/biostatistics (1994), both from UC Berkeley.  I worked in pharmaceutical research for over ten years prior to becoming a therapist.

On a more personal note, I have been married for over 30 years.  We have two young adult sons.  I love the outdoors, exercising, learning, and spending time with family and friends.

A good connection with your therapist is vital.  Thank you for considering me at this time in your life.  Please contact me if you have any questions.  I hope to have the privilege of hearing your story and being a part of your growth journey.
